Some reflections on the genesis of a story I wrote about the island of Ios for a Greek newspaper. It reminded me of Ibiza (the island, not the newspaper) though not for the reasons you might think. Story and photos by Anthony Grant
It was as if there was an invisible Calypso whispering in my ear, “you will carry this blue in your heart” because it’s true: a long time after leaving the silky liquid aquamarine of the Iosian beaches behind, the memory of their purity lingers in my heart haunting me like a gentle torment. Sometimes I wish there was a drug you could take to give succor to such perplexing souvenirs, other times I’m glad there isn’t. Because if all you wanna do is get high by the beach, baby this is it.
